This Sticky Honey Ginger Pulled Pork recipe may be the BEST recipe on my website and that is saying a lot! The warm honey combined with the fresh ginger, sriracha sauce and sesame seeds is oh so delicious. This recipe can be made both in the crockpot or pressure cooker. It requires minimal time and is something the whole family can enjoy.

What Makes This Honey Pulled Pork So Good?
- First off, I am normally not a huge fan of pulled pork but this recipe is off the charts good! Like I said, it may be one of the best ones on my website.
- The fresh ginger combined with the sriracha sauce is really what makes this recipe. It adds a nice kick and compliments the honey so well.
Honey Pulled Pork Ingredients:
- Boneless pork shoulder-I like to get mine from Butcher Box! They send me a monthly supply of all of my favorite proteins right to my door. If you use my code HERE you can save on your first order.
- Bone broth-To prevent the pork from drying out when cooking it.
- Coconut aminos-For flavor.
For the sauce:
- Honey-This makes the recipe! Any kind of honey will work but be sure there are no additives in it.
- Ginger-AH this is a must! I do have to add here the taste of fresh ginger vs. ground ginger is not the same so I highly suggest sticking to fresh ginger. That said, if you do not have fresh, the powder form could work just be sure to cut the amount in HALF because powdered ginger is a lot stronger.
- Garlic to taste-I like fresh minced garlic vs the powder.
- Sriracha sauce-To add a nice kick!
- Apple cider vinegar-This can be easily swapped out for rice wine vinegar. This gives the sauce a nice kick without adding more heat.
- Coconut aminos-This is a soy sauce alternative that is soy free. If you tolerate soy you can for sure use regular soy sauce here.
How To Make:
- First off, you will need to determine which way you are going to make it. This recipe includes 3 ways to make honey pulled pork: in the oven, crockpot, and pressure cooker. Regardless of which way you make it, you will make the sauce the same way.
For the sauce:
- Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a simmer and whisk. Wait to make this until you are ready to serve the pork.
Different cooking methods to cook the honey sticky pulled pork:
- For the crockpot:
- Place the pork, coconut aminos, avocado oil, and broth in the crockpot on low for at least 10 hours. The thing about pork shoulder is it gets softer and more tender the longer you cook it, so if you are using the crockpot because you have to work during the day and you want dinner ready when you get home, do not sweat it if it’s longer than 10 hours!
- For the instant pot:
- Place the pork, coconut aminos, avocado oil, and broth in the instant pot on pressure cook HIGH for 90 minutes. Make sure the valve on top is closed. Allow the pressure cooker to manually decompress for 20 minutes then open up the valve.
- For the oven:
- Place the pork, coconut aminos, avocado oil, and broth in a casserole dish and bake at either 200 or 250 degrees. 250 degrees for 8 hours OR 200 degrees for 12 hours. Be sure the pork reaches an internal temperature of 190 degrees.
- Once the pork is cooked, remove all of the fat within 20 minutes (if you want it will be harder to pull off.) Then, shred the pork with two forks. Add in the sauce, and serve with sesame seeds and green onions.
What Kind Of Pressure Cooker And Crockpot Do You Suggest?
- I have had this 8 and 1 Ninja Foodie for years and LOVE it.
Can I Make This Recipe In Bulk?
- Yes! However, be sure to cut the pork into chunks rather than one big chunk if you are cooking it in bulk.
What Should I Serve With This Recipe?
- I love this recipe with roasted broccoli and cauliflower rice!

I made this tonight! No one in my house is soy sensitive, so I used regular soy sauce. The only change I will make next time is that I will drain the leftover broth from the meat before adding the sticky sauce, mine was too watery. But there will absolutely be a next time- the flavor is absolutely delicious. Great recipe!

Is 2 servings enough for a family of 4 dinner? If not, would I just double everything. The grocery store was mostly selling 3 pound pork shoulders so I didn’t know what to do.
Allianna Moximchalk says
If you are doing 3 pounds I would triple the recipe since the recipe calls for 1 pound. So I would triple all of the ingredients! Enjoy!
